Well, I have been poking and prodding images for days now and I think my eyes are finally glazing over! Possibly the toughest thing I have yet to master is touching up a photo without leaving marks of my own on it. I may have picked images that are too old, but with the amount of damage on some of them, I seem to want to over-touch them (that doesn’t sound good at all, does it??) and when I do, it leaves this pattern that kind of looks like tracks a 4-wheeler would leave…unfortunately, they might be on Ulysses S. Grant’s face!!
Anyway, I am not sending in my site until tomorrow after a little more work, but I just wanted to share one of my more frustrating experiences…

I can totally relate. My biggest peeve about Photoshop is that it is superpowerful, and it makes it easy to do so much. But, it’s really easy to make things look fake. I had this problem this past week with my colorization. Hang in there, hope it works out better for you by tomorrow.

Steven,
You said: “Possibly the toughest thing I have yet to master is touching up a photo without leaving marks of my own on it.”
I have not yet reached that point, and I am comfortable with that. While this work can be fun, you are right, at times your eyes and mind glazes over. It is then I must take a break and go watch something like Andy Griffith. Practice is the way.

I agree–I think the more I play with things, the more fake it looks. I don’t know how much I’ve improved the image. I know I have miles to go in learning Photoshop, but I wonder, like Laura, if we try to do too much.
